BRIEF PROFILE ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The Kokrajhar Music and Fine arts College is a distinguished institute for visual Art Training and imparts in the field of Fine Arts & Training development of the traditional and indigeneous form of the music and dance , propagation of Hindustani classical Music and Indian classical dance forms. The Kokrajhar Music and Fine Arts College was established in the year 1996 with the concerted move cooperation and selfless dedication of the people of this area. This is the only college providing higher education in the field of Music and Fine Arts education recognized by the Govt. and affiliated to Gauhati University in the entire BTAD area in particular and lower Assam region in general. The College is amalgamated concurrence under the Deptt. Of Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Assam.
COLLEGE LOCATION
The Kokrajhar Music & Fine Arts College is situated at Habrubari ½ K.M. from the Kokrajhar town .The college is well connected by roads from the various towns and cities of Assam and other parts of the country. Kokrajhar town is located in the distance of 23kms South and 12kms west from NH 31 NH 37 respectively . The college is hardly ½ km away from the Kokrajhar railway station where most of the trains from various parts of the country have a stoppage . The Rupsi Airport in Dhubri district, the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport at Borjhar, Guwahati and the Bagdogra Airport in North Bengal are just in the distance of 71kms, 200kms and 250kms away from the Kokrajhar town respectively.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of this institution are serving the backward people and the humanity educationally and culturally as a whole and to uplift them by imparting college and university level of education and adequate training through art & music; and to maintain school and college along with vocational training as well. Organising seminars, performing exhibitions in the field of visual arts, traditional art and culture are the aims of the institution as well. The institution also aims to grant recognition to schools, performance awards/certificate of honour etc, to foster develop folk art and music as well as to encourage the folk artist to establish, manage and maintain development of the art medium child centric elementary education, non-formal education, to organize, manage and maintain separate groups for organizing exhibition in India or abroad for the promotion of Indian culture to publish books and periodicals etc. and to organize meetings, seminars, workshops, performances, competitions, exhibitions and training etc. in the field of visual arts including traditional art with a view to encourage the cultivation art and culture in general schools and colleges.
INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE COLLEGE CAMPUS
The Kokrajhar Music & Fine Arts College imparts two courses namely, B.F.A. and B.Music . The main building of the College is a three storied R.C.C. building which is 116’ x 30’ in measurement and is attached to an auditorium which is 128’ x 44’ in size. The ground floor consists of five rooms with 20’ x 20’ of which three rooms are used for administration and two for laboratory of Sculpture Department. The first and second floor have five rooms each with 20’ x 20’ size with 116’ x 10’ size for veranda. The first floor is utilized to hold classes for Fine Arts Department and Second floor for Music Department. Separate Toilet for Boys and girls, including Teaching and Non-Teaching staffs is maintained.
A separate Assam type building with 38’ x 32’ measurement for library is on the left corner of the main building. The premise also comprise of a well furnished Boy’s Hostel which has an accommodation for 70 students. It has 6 rooms measuring 27’ x 20’ in size. Another 4 rooms was added in 2018 with same size. A separate Dining and Kitchen is facilitated. A newly constructed Assam type Hostel is to open from 2020 session for Girls. It is at half Km walking distance from the college which has a capacity to accommodate 30 students in two large halls. A separate Kitchen and Dining Hall is attached
